Abstract
A breath-powered, dry powder inhaler, a cartridge, and a pulmonary drug delivery system are provided. The dry powder inhaler can be provided with or without a unit dose cartridge for using with the inhaler. The problem as an obesity treatment is that speed of delivery is not a concern. It is competing with once weekly subq injections so having to take lots of inhales instead is unlikely to be a winner. It is interesting that they go down the amylin route so heavily in this application though (in Type 1 you lose the ability to produce amylin) as the only treatment available today is Symlin which is not widely used (you want me to take TWO injections every time?) |

If this works and prevents the vomiting and can demonstrate the same weight reduction or satiety effects seen with long-acting analogues MNKD could have a block-buster which has already gone through phase 1s. Too bad its been sitting in the freezer all these years and seemed to be forgotten. |

Too bad its been sitting in the freezer all these years and seemed to be forgotten. I wonder if Mike is planning on pursuing this or if we are just keeping up to date with updating the patent. It would make sense to pursue this if we want to expand and grow the Endocrine Business Unit and we already know that GLP-1 works with Technosphere. |

Peppy - the weight loss with some of these people is shocking. Thats why tiktok has gone crazy about it.
As we have been discussing on this board with TS GLP1 Peter Richardson thought it could avoid the vomiting but still provide the sensation of feeling full. After about a year it seems the weight loss pretty much maxes out from what I have been seeing reported. From the insurance study most people also stop using soon after they stop losing the weight - around a year and nearly 80% stop using within 2 years.

If they can make this work it would be huge. The problem they have to solve is that Technosphere is really good at fast absorption and that is something you don't want with GLP-1 drugs. The half life is really short and a lot of the work with injectables is around getting an extended release like a basal insulin.
