brentie - Throw that poor kitten to the dogs! Liane, I figured I'd get a response from you with this one. I'm still in my compromise mode.

As long as we don't start showing cats pouncing on lizards it's a compromise I can live with.

Any chance SNY/MNKD use this as a forum to discuss launch timing, CMC of line 2/3 timing?

Any chance SNY/MNKD use this as a forum to discuss launch timing, CMC of line 2/3 timing? I doubt it. That would effectively become the launch announce. And if they were doing that, I suspect someone from SNY would be onstage with AM.

About the JP Morgan Conference. I doubt very seriously that SNY would use this conference as a vehicle to make any kind of announcment about the launch of Afrezza. In fact, they might be prohibited from doing so to keep all of the companies presenting on a level playing field. I see that SNY and MDT present back to back on Monday from 12:30 til 1:30 EST PM and Mannkind doesn't present until Wednesday at 4:30 in the afternoon EST, Someone might try to make something of that, but maybe it is just a coincidence for the two of them to be back-to-back. I've listened to these conference sessions before and while I'd like to think that something positive would be forthcoming as a result, so far it has been disappointing. However, from a retail investor perspective, I only see two possible outcomes for those longs who have waited very patiently for success with Afrezza.
1: The Mannkind/SNY partnership will continue to unfold with more and more positive news arriving on a daily/weekly/monthly basis. More and more formularies accepting afrezza, TV commercials starting, more milestone events met, the launch eventually taking place, Afrezza going viral on social media, sales numbers posting for 2Q and 3Q and a gradual appreciation of the share price over time. At some point in time, the long anticipated short squeeze is triggerred, as we still have 79 million short shares that would currently take 20 days to cover. The negative articles that have been coming out on a regular basis have only kept the PPS stable, up or down a few pennies per day.
2: At some point , SNY or a different partner decides to buy 100% of the rights to Afrezza from Mannkind and a buyout occurs for either Afrezza alone or for Afrezza and the technosphere platform. This crushes the shorts immediately as there were still about 79 million short shares as of 12/15/2014. While I would love to see this happen, as an investor, we might make more money to watch Mannkind grow over time.
In any event, try as I might to be pessimistic and conjure up the worse possible scenario - based on years of due diligence - I just can't imagine a scenario where Afrezza fails. It been tested in many, many trials with no significant negative red flags and almost no adverse side effects. It's insulin for goodness sakes, and has been used for about 90 years to treat diabetics. So, it's like the best kept secret on the planet. Barring a 100% cure for diabetes being announced any time soon, I wait with eager anticipation for Afrezza to becoem the gold standard in diabetes care.....
