I don't believe that Al Mann intended to sell his technospere idea. Mannkind has so much more than just Afrezza ... Happy 4th of July !!! O^O ... since Hawaii is 6 hours behind the east coast ... we see that a lot of hotdogs have already been consumed. Did you know that if you laid hotdogs end to end from LA to DC ... that 5 times that amount is eaten on the 4th of July? AND ... why is it that on the 4th ... so many 5ths will be drank? Heat and sunshine The sun is great at making vitamin D3 (a hormone) which might just be the number one catalyst to testosterone production. Raging hormones and alcohol, an explosive combination. MannKind Corporation is currently seeking an IP Docketing Administrator in Danbury, CT. The incumbent will be responsible for assisting in the preparation and coordination of procedural documentation for Intellectual Property (IP) patent filings and applications, as required. Assist with determining the necessity and approach for paying annuities, ensuring protection of the company's proprietary technology. Assists with maintains a tracking system to comply with trademark regulations. May be responsible for tracking and paying legal fees to our respective patent law firms. This position supports the Intellectual Property Group and/or General Legal Counsel. Provide Administrative support to the Intellectual Property (IP) department Sr. Director, as well as to the Corporate Vice President of Legal.
Provide Administrative support to the Intellectual Property (IP) department Sr. Director, as well as to the Corporate Vice President of Legal. This includes any reports necessary, legal documents, meeting setups, and any/all correspondence both in-house and with our outside vendors
Create, update and maintain records of foreign and US Patent prosecution matters in the Computer Packages, Inc. Docketing System
Enter data into the Computer Packages, Inc. Annuity System to ensure tracking and payment of patent annuities
Perform periodic audits on data needed to ensure the accuracy and completeness of patent records and annuities
Capture and record all patent data for the IP department, and from outside patent law firms
Work very closely with our outside patent law firms to ensure all correspondence, requests, etc. are handled timely and properly for our Patents and Trademarks
Update IP spreadsheets regularly to ensure real time documentation
Organize and file all IP electronic and hard copy files for Patents, Trademarks and CDA/NDA’s Update and maintain the Company’s executed Confidentiality Agreements (CDA/NDA’s) as provided by personnel
Assist with generating listings of patent assets to support outside due diligence and partnering efforts
Handle correspondence and payment to non-employee inventors when requested to provide patent prosecution signatures
May need to handle administrative tasks, such as meeting coordination, filing, document certification, and monthly reports
Responsible for observing all Company, Health, Safety and Environmental guidelines
Duties and responsibilities are not limited to the work listed above and may include other assignments as necessary
Requirements
BS/BA with 4+ years’ experience working in a business environment is preferred, or a HS Diploma/GED or Associate’s degree with the equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered
Experience working in the biotech/pharmaceutical industry and/or medical industry preferred
Experience working with Intellectual Property Docketing and Annuities software packages Experience with Word, and advanced Excel required
Knowledge of patent procedures is essential but will train
Must be proactive in willingness to learn and excel in the patent area
Excellent organizational skills is essential
Must possess the ability to be able to prioritize work and deadlines, and be flexible

Interesting that increasingly sterile environments could be a possible factor in diabetes. I never read or thought about it before. I guess it's good that I actually ate dirt (and next to the garbage cans as I recall) at least one time when I was very young tyke.

If they can get funding then the money is there to cover the employees. Either way Mannkindy may as well hire on the principle that they are going to get the money, and anyway CT is an at-will state so Mike can always fire them if need be. |

Last i remember was back in the local CT paper, but it was after a big downsizing (and before the sales force additions) and im not sure they even gave a precise or approximate number

If they can get funding then the money is there to cover the employees. Either way Mannkindy may as well hire on the principle that they are going to get the money, and anyway CT is an at-will state so Mike can always fire them if need be. Pretty much what agedhippie said. For a company in MNKD's position there is only one metric that counts, and that is cash in the bank. If the company has cash to meet its legal obligations as they mature they will not go bankrupt, period. If cash continues to leave the company faster than it comes it, the day will come where they cannot meet their obligations. Mike (and Matt before him) have done some very positive things, none of which can be criticized, but growing scripts at the rate we have seen, doing more social media, running television commercials, making some key hires, and cutting international deals with no up-front payments do not move the cash balance. Moving the Deerfield payment out a few months provides some breathing room, but it does not increase cash. Reducing the last of the Mann Group credit line to cash is a positive that moves the cash needle, but that contribution will only last about two months and that payment is not in the bank just yet. Mike has to step up and complete a strategic deal or a financing that brings in a serious amount of new money. If Mike can do that he will be a hero, a lot of the short-term risk will fall away, and the PPS should react accordingly. In the meantime, don't be distracted by less important accomplishments; if there no immediate positive cash flow impact from an announcement then in context of the moment it is unimportant. If an announcement comes with cash, that is a big deal to celebrate. |
